The Linton workshop was established in 1908 by James Walter Robert Linton, a British trained painter and teacher of art. James’ son Jamie took over the running of the workshop in the 1930’s and designed the range of cutlery and tableware that is still produced in the workshop today. Jamie has been succeeded by his son John and his granddaughter Beth who continue making to the present day.
The Linton family was instrumental in the development of the Arts and Crafts movement in Western Australia and incorporates many Australian Wildflowers within its unique designs. The mark of the gumnut, as used by JWR Linton, is still impressed on every piece of Linton Silver made in the workshop today.
Linton Silver is proudly presented at Linton Studio in Bon Marche Arcade, 80 Barrack Street Perth alongside Handmade Silver Jewellery by Bethamy Linton and other West Australian Jewellers and Silversmiths. |
